The leadership of Puerto Rico was thrown into further uncertainty as the official slated to replace the U.S. territory’s governor said she didn’t want the job.
Secretary of Justice Wanda Vázquez is next in line to succeed Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, who announced his resignation last week following weeks of massive public protest. In a Twitter post Sunday, Ms. Vázquez said she hoped Mr. Rosselló would instead appoint a new secretary of state, who would be positioned to succeed him when he officially steps down Aug. 2.
