and comedian Heather McDonald are some of the creators currently using Patreon, and by the end of this year the company forecasts plans to have paid out over $1 billion to creators worldwide.

More than 100,000 creators are on Patreon, and although Conte claims there isn’t an average salary that those on the platform are earning, he says monthly payouts range from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands. The company makes money by taking 5%, 8% or 12% of how much a patron earns monthly plus payment processing depending on whether they opted into the Lite, Pro or a Premium plan.
