Starting Monday, the indoor vaccine mandate in the city will officially be lifted and kids won't be required to wear a mask at school. As KevRincon reports, New Yorkers have navigated through a number of COVID19 restrictions over the last two years.

"I think it's really great that we don't have to show proof of vaccination because the cases have dropped, so that's really a good sign that things are clearing up and we can live normally," Hell's Kitchen resident Niya McKellar told CBS2's Kevin Rincon., who announced the changes going into the weekend, said the city should be celebrating the milestone.

"We've been waiting for this day for so long. We have to get our economy back on track. It's time to reopen our city," Adams said. As part of the change, indoor venues like restaurants, bars, gyms, and entertainment facilities will no longer be required to check proof of vaccination."Question is, what's going to happen next winter? What choices do we make then?" oneAnother change starting Monday is masks will no longer be required on public school grounds for K-12 students. It will instead become optional.

"If you choose to have the mask, because it's on you, anything that protects yourself is better than nothing," the resident said. "As you see. I'm still going to wear mine because they haven't been lifted as yet, and I'm just not quite ready for that," resident Ayesha Fisher said.
