As Orchis finally make their move against the X-Men, they have a new Wolverine of their own - but this monstrosity may be Logan's fault.
New cover art for X-Men #22 teases the arrival of a robotic version of Wolverine, as the human-supremacist organization Orchis takes the fight to mutantkind. This mysterious new villain will join a roster of some of the deadliest humans in the Marvel Universe, finally turning Wolverine's iconic claws against the X-Men.
X-Men #22 from Gerry Duggan and Joshua Cassara will see the return of Orchis - a secret organization formed to prevent mutants supplanting humans as the planet's dominant species. While their leader and ultimate weapon is the advanced Sentinel Nimrod, there are some other truly threatening villains among their ranks, all sharing an interest in two things: unethical superscience, and the death of mutantkind.
Where X-Men's New Wolverine Came From When discussing a robotic Wolverine, no true Marvel fan could ignore Albert - an android built in Wolverine's likeness, and saddled with the companion robot Elsie Dee. Albert and Elsie Dee ultimately concluded Wolverine was a noble person, so if they're working for Orchis, it's unlikely to be because they want to.
The Robot Wolverine Could Be Logan's Fault The best candidate, however, is Inferno #1, in which Wolverine led X-Force on repeat missions to destroy Nimrod, with the mutant nation of Krakoa resurrecting them to try again each time. What Wolverine doesn't know is that each time he attacked and died, Nimrod took his adamantium-laced skeleton for study.
Whatever the origin, the X-Men will soon face an android version of Wolverine, battling the one mutant who has won more battles than perhaps any Marvel hero - but this time, fighting for the other side.X-Men #22 is coming from Marvel Comics May 17.
