Alabama’s proposed men’s and women’s golf facility 🏌️ received its latest stamp of approval this week from the UofAlabama board of trustees. It comes with a $39 million budget, up from the $26 million price tag approved in June. ⛳️

The higher price tag was the result of increases in the price of building construction and price of course construction , as well as higher architect and engineer fees.

The physical properties committee approved the new budget Thursday, and the board of trustees gave its approval Friday. The facility is funded through “Crimson Standard” fundraising gifts and general revenue bonds. The project, which would be located off Kicker Road east of campus, included a clubhouse, nine-hole course and separate practice course.

Alabama’s men’s golf team finished in last place at the SEC championships last year. The women’s team qualified for the NCAA championships, where it finished 24th. The golf facility project was announced the same day last February as Alabama’s proposed basketball arena, which hasMike Rodak is an Alabama beat reporter for Alabama Media Group.
