Alice Dorn, 17, works with her physical therapist Jamie Jacobs , occupational therapy student Marisa Cabaza and rehabilitation aid JoAnn Felan at TeamAbility, located at the new Multi-Assistance Center. Dorn has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, is legally blind and has chronic lung disease. Her grandmother said being able to have all her appointments in one building has been really helpful, and she has been able to enroll her granddaughter in more programs to help her.
Hartman said in initial renderings of the facility, The MAC was much smaller, at about 40,000 square feet, but as more and more interest in the revolutionary new approach came from community organizations, they had to expand their plans. “I’m trying to see if all of her specialists will see her here,” Dorn said while waiting for Alice to complete a physical therapy session at TEAMability. “Hopefully, it’ll be everything she really needs without us having to run all over town.”
