AUSTIN — Madison Booker was in trouble. Late in the third quarter and being pawed at by two Alabama defenders, the Texas point guard salvaged her dribble and tossed the ball to teammate Aaliyah Moore, who dribbled it toward the sideline before passing back to Booker at the top of the key. With the shot clock winding down to the final seconds, Booker gave it back to Moore, who drilled a 3-pointer right in front of the Texas bench and appeared astonished at her own shot.
“When you’re out of your comfort zone, especially for shooters, it’s hard to make shots and they made a lot of shots tonight, but I think that we did a good job at forcing them to miss ones that they usually would make.” Sarah Ashlee Barker led Alabama with 17 points, followed by Aaliyah Nye’s 14 points. Alabama spent most of the first quarter face-guarding Booker, Texas’ leading scorer, at full court.
