April is Stress Awareness Month to open conversation on the impact of stress in our daily lives.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -

The American Institute of Stress says about 33% of people report feeling extreme stress, 77% of people experience stress that affects their physical health, 73% of people have stress that impacts their mental health, and 48% of people have trouble sleeping because of stress. Numbers from the Mental Health Foundation show that 51% of adults who felt stressed reported feeling depressed, and 61% reported feeling anxious. Of the people who said they had felt stress at some point in their lives, 16% had self-harmed, and 32% said they had had suicidal thoughts and feelings.
