Will Napoleon Be Phoenix's Next Oscar-Winning Performance? Although widely regarded as one of the most talented actors working today, Phoenix has only won one Oscar. He nabbed the award for his chilling performance in Todd Phillips' Joker, which saw him playing the titular DC villain. Despite only having won a single Academy Award, Phoenix has been nominated three other times, including for Best Supporting Actor in Scott's own Gladiator.
With Phoenix's supporting performance remaining one of the highlights of Gladiator, expectations are high for his reunion film with Scott. Trailers have already teased that Napoleon might just be the perfect movie to take advantage of Phoenix's talents, with the film seemingly exploring the dark undercurrent of rage that accompanies the dictator's relentless pursuit of power.
The cast for Napoleon includes Vanessa Kirby as Empress Josephine, and the film is set to explore in depth her tumultuous relationship with Phoenix's character.
