Rep. Nancy Mace slammed members of the"Squad" for their outcry on the House floor Friday over a vote to oust Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pushed his members for a resolution to eject Omar from the committee, pointing to her past remarks, such as a tweet from 2012, in which Omar said, “Israel has hypnotized the world.” Omar, an advocate of Palestinian rights in Israel, has since apologized for her remarks. Her colleagues, including Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Rashida Tlaib , rallied to her defense.
"I had a member of the Republican caucus threaten my life and the Republican caucus rewarded him with one of the most prestigious committee assignments in this Congress." — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez February 2, 2023 "You are showing who you all are really. I and Congresswoman Omar will not be silenced. To Congresswoman Omar, I am so sorry, sis, that this country is failing you today through this chamber," Tlaib declared in an emotional speech. Tlaib and Omar are both Muslim members of Congress.
