A worker at the North Arlington Public Library in Bergen County said her supervisor made discriminatory and vulgar remarks in her presence.
A former worker for the North Arlington Public Library in Bergen County has filed a lawsuit alleging she was forced to quit her job due to constant vulgar and racist comments made in her presence by her boss and others.
The manager, who is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, subjected Colao to “an ongoing campaign of harassment, discrimination, and hostile work environment on a near daily basis,” states the suit, filed March 22 in Superior Court of Monmouth County. Colao worked on the circulation desk at the library.Reached by phone by NJ Advance Media, the library manager declined to comment on the lawsuit, referring questions to the library’s attorney.
When Colao reported those comments to the manager, the manager called Colao “a fat slob,” the lawsuit alleges. “The constant profanity, and the degrading, demeaning, and discriminatory comments were too much for Ms. Colao to bear and she was forced to leave NAPL,” the suit says.
