On the flip side, hospitals in New Jersey and the nation saw a rise in infections, something the report says 'the work of advancing patient safety requires a continued, unrelenting effort.'
But the news was not all positive. Three of the most common hospital-acquired infections rose to a five-year high in 2021 and 2022 — an outcome likely tied to the pressure medical professionals experienced asdragged on, according to state and national public health officials. The rise was seen in hospitals across the country.
The findings somewhat overshadow New Jersey’s latest and best showing. Of the 68 hospitals Leapfrog graded, 35 earned an A — 2 more than in November; 18 hospitals earned a B — two fewer than the last round; and 15 hospitals scored a C, down one from six months ago.
