The executive director of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey has suffered two miscarriages and had to end her pregnancy with a dilation and curettage, the exact same procedure used in an abortion. She had that ability because she lives in New Jersey, other women in other states may not have that ability to address their health.
Nearly 20 years ago, I began my career as an organizer and sex educator with Planned Parenthood. Throughout the years, we often warned of the potential for Roe v. Wade to be overturned. As state restrictions on abortion increased, we knew that the fall of Roe would further the divide between those with access and those without – often attributable to a person’s finances, state laws, and combination of intersecting factors.
