My Hero Academia's original Bakugo was bad.
Bakugo is one of My Hero Academia's most popular characters, but his original iteration would have ruined everything that makes him great. Luckily, mangaka Kohei Horikoshi chose to go a different direction with the character. Given how integral Bakugo is to the series as a whole, his original version could have completely changed My Hero Academia's plot.

Bakugo is incredibly confident to the point of cruelty, which caused him to bully Deku before joining UA. However, after acknowledging Deku's newfound strength, Bakugo used him as motivation to get stronger and prove himself.
My Hero Academia's Bakugo Originally Had A Different Personality In the author's notes at the end of My Hero Academia's third chapter, Horikoshi mentions that initially he was going to go in a much different direction with Bakugo. Instead of being the brash loudmouth he is now, Bakugo was originally going to be a natural genius who inadvertently insulted people, saying things like, "Anyone could pull off that feat," to the other characters.
It's interesting that part of the original design remained in the final version. Bakugo is presented for most of the series as a "genius", meaning he is naturally adept in the use of his powerful Quirk, and the most likely to become a Pro Hero.
