BUSINESS tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan has hit out at the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) over the loss of the Gilas Pilipinas team to host Cambodia in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Thursday night.
'What a disgraceful game for Gilas. An ignominious defeat which will be etched deeply in infamy. SBP — what happened?' Pangilinan, who serves as chairman emeritus of SBP and is one of the biggest patrons of Philippine basketball, tweeted.The national team lost to an import-laden Cambodian squad, 79-68, in a game that ended on a highly emotional note.
'Reyes also said the humidity inside the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh made the court slippery. Several players, including Gilas' Chris Newsome, skidded after hitting a moist patch on the court.'There are little slips that you're not seeing,' he said.Reyes added the heat also dehydrated newly naturalized player Justin Brownlee, who could not get game his usual game going.
