Morton Grove’s Village Board approved the 89-townhome subdivision at 8350 Lehigh, and a special use permit for the development.
A vacant former industrial building at 8350 Lehigh Avenue in Morton Grove would be located within a tax increment financing district under consideration by the village.
“They’re in the process of obtaining site improvement permits,” Heidorn said of developer, Lexington Homes of Chicago. “They’re under contract. They’re on board. It just comes down to hashing out a redevelopment agreement, subject to Board approval. They expect to be in the ground soon.” The townhomes, available as two- or three-bedroom units, would range in size from 1,780 to 2,278 square feet. The project would span 7.6 acres and be divided into 16 buildings, according to the village.
“There’s quite a bit of demolition and remediation that needs to be done first,” Heidorn said. “There’s quite a lot of contaminated soil. Hopefully, they can get some work done this year, but if not, I think 2024 is realistic.”
