Ninety-two percent of Filipinos approve of the government’s response to Covid-19–up from 82 percent in early 2022, according to the latest results of the OCTA Research survey released on Friday, Dec. 16.
The Tugon ng Masa survey—an independent and non-commissioned poll conducted regularly by OCTA Research—has 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.
The survey question was, “How much do you approve of what the government has done or is doing to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the country? Do you truly approve, somewhat approve, can’t say if approve or disapprove, somewhat disapprove, truly disapprove, or don’t know/refuse [to answer]?” Ninety-two percent of adult Filipinos approve of the national government’s response to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the country .OCTA’s Tugon ng Masa poll showed that only 2 percent expressed their disapproval of the government’s response to Covid-19Based on the OCTA survey results, the government’s rating for its response to Covid-19 also improved across all major areas and socio-economic classes.
The government received the highest approval rating from Metro Manila and Visayas, with 94 percent each, while it got 92 percent and 91 percent approval ratings in Balance Luzon and Visayas, respectively. Among the socio-economic groupings, the national government enjoys the highest approval rating from those belonging to Class E and D, with 94 percent each.“Based on an analysis of the trends, a decrease in approval rating was observed in the September 2021 and February 2022 TNM survey results. Coincidentally, these were periods when Covid-19 surges occurred, notably last August 2021 and January 2022, respectively,” OCTA said.
