Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson has further clarified he placed Prine on leave because he was insubordinate, did not want to report to the public safety director and because of a comment he supposedly made early in his tenure to “f--- the public.” The resolution to be considered by the City Council states that, “It is the Council’s information and belief that, during or just before the work week of April 8-11, 2024, City of Mobile Police Department Chief Paul Prine ... emptied his office of personal belongings and failed to report to duty. It is the Council’s further information and belief that this was in connection with discussions or negotiations between the City and Chief Prine regarding his retirement and/or resignation.
