The Aggies had their six-game win streak snapped by the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Texas A&M guard Andre Gordon is unguarded as he attempts a three-point shot during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game against Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. Texas A&M and Mississippi State both had plenty to play for on Saturday afternoon in Starkville, Miss. The Aggies are in contention for a Southeastern Conference regular season title. The Bulldogs are figured to be teetering on the edge of the cutoff for the 68-team NCAA Tournament.

A&M , which had its six-game win streak snapped, was trying to win 14 games in SEC play for the first time since joining the league in the summer of 2012, and the Aggies still have two regular-season games remaining to try and do so. The Aggies didn’t score again for nearly 13 game minutes from the field, although they somehow stayed in the game with 14 free throws in that same span.

Gordon Chair of Texas history at Tarleton State University, explains what may have kept some Black residents in Texas after the Civil War, and Amber Sims, the executive director of the nonprofit Young Leaders, Strong City, details the progress that's been made and the steps we still need to take.
