“I deal with the same things any 18-year-old is dealing with, navigating being an adult and having relationships and friendships, and it’s all of those things,” she . "Being liked and trying to fit in, it's all a lot, and you’re trying to [know] yourself while doing that. The only difference is obviously I’m doing that in the public eye."“I enjoyed being different people because I always struggled with self-identity and knowing who I was,” she said. “Even as a young person, I always felt like I didn’t quite belong in every room I was in. I also struggle with loneliness a bit.
But as she grew up, instead of allowing the negative voices to shape who she is, Brown said she leaned on her support system. “Then I started to grow more, and my family and friends really helped,” she said. "It helped to be able to understand that I don’t need to be anything they said that I need to be. I just have to develop within myself. That’s what I did.”
