Trout hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning of the first game and a solo shot to put the Angels on the board in the second game. The Angels won consecutive games for the first time since May.
SEATTLE — The beauty of having a couple MVPs hitting back-to-back is exactly the predicament that the Angels pushed onto Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais on Saturday afternoon.
It marked the first time the Angels had won consecutive games since a three-game winning streak from May 21-24. Trout has done so much damage against the Mariners that it was something of a surprise to see Servais have right-hander Diego Castillo pitch to him, even with Shohei Ohtani on deck, with two outs and a runner at third in the 10th inning of the first game.
Castillo threw a 95 mph sinker at the bottom of the zone, and Trout hammered it over the center field fence. Trout said he never even considered that the Mariners might walk him. Angels starter Patrick Sandoval continued his solid season by adding another strong outing, allowing just one run in six innings. Sandoval gave up a homer to Dylan Moore in the third, and nothing else. He walked two and struck out five.
