Mike Babcock resigned as the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday following an NHLPA investigation regarding asking players to show him photos from their cell phones.
that an investigation by the NHL Players’ Association into the allegations against Babcock “left no path for Babcock to continue as coach.” As a result of the resignation, associate coach Pascal Vincent will take over as head coach for the Blue Jackets.“Upon reflection, it has become clear that continuing as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets was going to be too much of a distraction,” Babcock said in a statement.
The Blue Jackets hired Babcock as their head coach on July 1. He hadn’t been behind a bench in the NHL since the Maple Leafs fired him on Nov. 20, 2019. Babcock reportedly shared that information to the players at the bottom of that list, driving Marner to tears.

He agreed to a two-year contract as the head coach of the Blue Jackets on Sunday.
