“Hello Mr. Salad,” Bloomberg begins the exchange depicted in a post from @kalesalad. “Can you post this meme to make me seem cool for the upcoming Democratic primary?” Included is an image of a tweet reading, “Michael Bloomberg is like kale salad: tough and tasteless but ultimately good for you.” “Idk it’s not that funny,” @kalesalad responds. Bloomberg then offers to pay them a billion dollars, prompting the meme account to ask, “What do you want the caption to be?”
The posts’ captions include parenthetical disclosures that they are sponsored content. These legally required messages account for the disbelief that Bloomberg would actually pay for this kind of content, reading, “And yes this is really #sponsored by @mikebloomberg.”
