Meyer Shank Racing, Acura leads 24 Hours of Daytona at halfway.
After 12 hours of racing, the first-ever race of the modern GTP era is starting to stabilize. The No. 60 Acura ARX-06 of Meyer Shank Racing led the field at halfway, but the top six cars in class have all fought for the lead over the first half of the 24-hour classic. Both Acuras, all three Cadillac V-LMDh entries, and the No. 6 Penske-run Porsche 963 have all led at times and all remain on the lead lap. The No.
Porsche's No. 7, which suffered an early hybrid system issue, sits 16 laps behind the race leaders and should eventually pass the LMP2 field to climb to eighth overall. The No. 25 BMW M Hybrid V8 has been behind the wall with a hybrid system issue twice and sits 132 laps down. Outside of the fight for the overall win, the story of the race has been a notable lack of attrition. Just six cars sit in the garage, less than 10% of a 61-car field.
