It’s the seventh Mesero in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The brisket tacos at Mesero are one of the best sellers. This new Mesero was expected to open in Southlake in late 2021, but the opening was delayed until March 2022.Dallas-born restaurant Mesero opened in Southlake, in place of the former Howard Wang’s, on March 8, 2022.
Mesero is known for its shrimp ceviche, brisket tacos and margaritas. The La Doña margarita made with Herradura Reposado tequila, served regular or skinny, is the bestseller among margs, says CEO Trey Dyer. The restaurant started on Dallas’ McKinney Avenue in 2011, then moved to Inwood Road and Lovers Lane in 2014. The company currently operates seven Meseros — four in Dallas, one in Plano, one in Fort Worth, and now one in Southlake. Dyer says he hadn’t been interested in opening a Mesero in Southlake, saying it was “over-restauranted” for years. But in September 2020, when some restaurants closed because of the pandemic, he was inspired byThe restaurant space at 1471 E. Southlake Blvd.
Across all Mesero restaurants in D-FW, the company launched a new menu in 2021. It includes fajitas for the first time — an item that customers would regularly order but was never on the menu. Mesero also added a vegan taco made with quinoa, corn, zucchini and avocado; a chicken breast sandwich; chile rellenos; and new summer cocktails.
