The Mets’ offseason restructuring has claimed a popular player from the franchise’s last World Series-winning team.
Tim Teufel, who spent the last two decades in various instructional roles for the Mets, won’t be retained by the organization, according to industry sources, as part of general manager Billy Eppler’s shake-up of the minor league system. Teufel, 64, spent the last six seasons as the Mets’ minor league infield coordinator.
A source indicated that at least 15 staff members in minor league operations were axed, as Eppler looks to fill positions with his own people. Further changes could be implemented in the pro scouting department.will remain as a consultant to owner Steve Cohen
