Mets stay put in standings after squandering rubber game against A's

“He had a good game, two homers going the other way,” a somber Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after the game. “But at the end of the day, we didn’t win.”Vientos’s first home run, a 406-footer into the bullpen padded the Mets’ score to 3-0. In the end, Mets pitchers overshadowed Vientos’s big day with their shoddy performance, especially Quintana and relievers Huascar Brazobán and Reed Garrett. Combined, they allowed seven runs on 11 hits and seven walks in six innings.
