The Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila is now close to the World Health Organization’s benchmark of 5 percent after OCTA Research observed a drop in the rate to 5.8 percent on Jan. 7.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Jan. 10, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that the Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila was down to 5.8 percent on Jan. 7, 2023, from 9.1 percent on Dec. 31, 2022. The positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19.

The WHO recommended that the positivity rate should remain at 5 percent or less to show that the spread of the virus is under control. David pointed out that the positivity rates in Batangas , Bulacan , Ilocos Norte , and Pangasinan have “reached low levels.”
