As memorable as her pink hair was a lightning strike Rapinoe authored, just three minutes after entering in the second half. Rapinoe was no stoic in response to her version of home runs — at least in the moment. She struck dramatic poses.As with Williams, critics blasted her, though for much different reasons; Williams, because he didn’t cozy up to ornery sportswriters; Rapinoe, because, well, I don’t know entirely and exactly, and the reasons have varied, but where politics, sports and social media intersect — and Rapinoe’s comments on social justice, for example, drew ample attention — the vitriol flows.
