The future of fashion is bright, according to the newest designers in Teen Vogue’s fashion incubator program.
’s fashion incubator program, Generation Next. Established four years ago with a mission of supporting emerging talent through mentorship, networking opportunities, and financial resources, the program is introducing a new class of six designers. The group comprises students and recent graduates who demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to fashion.is identifying and lifting up young, emerging talent.
As part of their participation in the program, the six designers created pieces that integrate the iconic Motorola Razr—an emblem of today’s trending Y2K fashions. The newly completed designs will be showcased on September 28 in New York City, where Sharma and Motorola Razr will cohost a celebration of the winners.

Learn more about their work here.A fashion design graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, Adela Ramirez believes clothing has the power to make one feel invincible. “I was always shy as a kid, and clothing made me feel more confident,” she says. “I love the idea of designing the person I hope to be through clothing.
The New York–based designer describes her garments as edgy and powerful. In her latest collection, created for her senior-year project, she used primarily canvas, denim, and wool to construct a series of androgynous suits with an emphasis on meticulous tailoring and statement-making structure. For that collection, Ramirez found much of her inspiration in cinematic characters: “I love, or any film with a strong lead character who is doing exactly what they would like to be doing.
Ramirez recently completed an internship with Area, and for her next act she will join zero-waste New York designer Grace Ling’s team as an intern. Her work thus far exhibits a commitment to learning new ways to minimize waste—she currently uses 3D modeling and rendering in order to make design changes before she begins using fabrics—and she’s certain that the next decade in design will present new techniques that continue to push the envelope on sustainable solutions.
