Medical examiner: Veterinarian had fatal heart attack after attempted break in at his Rolando clinic [Breaking]
An 88-year-old veterinarian who died after an attempted break-in at his Rolando clinic died of a heart attack caused by stress, San Diego County’s chief medical examiner testified Thursday.
The preliminary hearing in San Diego Superior Court will resume Friday. At the conclusion of the hearing, a judge is expected to determine whether the evidence is sufficient for O’Brien stand trial on the charges.In court Thursday, Dr. Steven Campman testified that though Kelly died of a heart attack on June 15, 2022, his death was classified as a homicide.
On cross examination, O’Brien’s defense attorney, Peter Will, questioned Campman about Kelly’s history of cardiac issues. Campman testified that Kelly also suffered a head injury from an impact either with the floor or a desk. The medical examiner said it could not be determined whether Kelly was pushed to the ground or if he fell on his own.
