Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson talks to reporters after a Harris County grand jury declined to indict him and chose not to criminally charge him in nine alleged instances of sexual assault or harassment during various private massage appointments, on Friday, March 11, 2022, in Houston. The decision came down the same day Watson was deposed in connection with two of the 22 civil lawsuits against him.
General manager Nick Caserio, who tried to trade Watson to Miami last season, will attempt to get the best possible deal. All we know for sure is Watson won’t be traded to Indianapolis, a member of the AFC South that plays the Texans twice each season. The Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to Denver this week for two first-round picks, two second-rounders and a fifth-round selection as well as tight end Noah Fant, quarterback Drew Lock and defensive end Shelby Harris.
Something to keep in mind is that teams interested in Watson will have to clear space to handle his $35 million cap figure this year. They might ask Mulugheta to restructure the contract, turning base salary into a signing bonus to lower this year’s cap figure.
