Mayor Eric Adams is urging Albany to pass a bill that would allow certain underutilized and vacant hotels to be converted into permanent residences for those experiencing homelessness.

"We are facing a homelessness crisis and an affordable housing crisis," said Adams. "By repurposing underused hotels, we can make affordable, permanent housing available to families, seniors, and any New Yorker in need, including our neighbors experiencing homelessness." We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to tackle the problem of homelessness and affordable housing through hotel conversions.
