Markham officials are expected to provide an update on a cold case involving a baby girl who was found burned to death in a house fire in 2017.
The girl was pulled from the wreckage of a fire at a vacant home on July 3, 2017, in the 15400 block of Hamlin Street.
The baby, believed to have been less than a year old, has been listed as "baby Jane Doe" because no one has come forward to claim her remains. In the days after her death, Markham police released a photo showing clothing similar to that worn by the baby at the time she was found. "We were hoping someone would have come forward to report her missing," said Markham Police Chief Mack Sanders.
Officials are set to provide an update on the case at 1 p.m. that will be streamed in the video player at the top of this page. All the news you need to know, every day
