So, when actor Mark Wahlberg was announced asThursday, heads were scratched and eyebrows were raised. Wahlberg grew up in Boston and is thought of as a dyed in the wool Boston sports fan.
Turns out, he's also recently become good friends with Astros third baseman Alex Bregman. It also doesn't hurt that the Astros have eliminated the Yankees — the Red Sox's biggest rival — from the postseason four times in the past eight seasons, including a sweep in last year's American League Championship Series.
"First and foremost, an amazing guy, but he’s also my favorite Yankee killer of all-time," Wahlberg said before Thursday's game."I’ve been a big, big fan of his for a while, so I’m just here to support him and I was rooting for him all the way through. Of course, when my Red Sox were out, I was right on the Astros bandwagon and, of course, once they swept the Yankees, they became my favorite Yankee killers.
