Senate Bill No. 1594 which seeks to institutionalize the “One Town, One Product” program is now up for signature of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.Senator Mark Villar, author and principal sponsor of the bill, emphasized that the impact of the measure would extends far beyond Philippine shores.
The bicameral conference committee, comprised of representatives from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, added some provisions to the revised version of the legislation. The criteria will be aligned with elements of culture, community resources, connection, creativity, and competitive advantage.Villar also stressed the importance of the OTOP bill in empowering small-scale entrepreneurs and stimulating local economies.
