Star Wars star Mark Hamill has reacted to an artist creating a Luke Skywalker portrait in an extremely unusual medium. Hamill began acting at a young age and worked throughout the early '70s, but his big break came when he played the Jedi Luke Skywalker in the 1977 smash sci-fi hit Star Wars: A New Hope. The character, along with his companions Princess Leia and Han Solo , became one of the most iconic figures of the century and the lead of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Hamill's résumé has expanded considerably since the original Star Wars trilogy. In addition to live-action roles in projects like Kingsman: The Secret Service and Brigsby Bear, he has a lucrative voice acting career. In addition to playing The Joker in DC animated series like Justice League and The New Batman Adventures, he played the killer doll Chucky in 2019's Child's Play and Marvel scientist Arnim Zola in Ultimate Spider-Man.
It turns out that the diceideas account has been around for some time, creating oversized portraits of famous figures ranging from Lady Gaga, to Queen Elizabeth II, and Michael Myers from Halloween. The artists behind the channel are Ross and Ben, and while the duo has mastered the ability to mimic anything with their dice art, Star Wars seems to be a particular favorite franchise of theirs. They recently also created a Darth Vader and a Yoda artwork.
The amount of skill and patience it must have taken to make this new Luke Skywalker art is astounding, and Hamill clearly appreciates the hard work that has gone into creating such an impressive homage to his iconic character. Hopefully, the artists will continue to make more designs based on other beloved Star Wars characters in the future, as Hamill's celebration of their work has no doubt given the duo's popularity and following a significant boost.
