Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is confident that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will do well during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland because “he speaks their language.”Highlighting the importance of the Chief Executive’s attendance in Davos, which runs from Jan. 16 to 20, the former president cited Marcos’ educational background and personal qualities that would serve him n good stead as he meets with Western leaders.

“Napakahalaga ng World Economic Forum dahil napakaraming mga political and business influencers na dumadalo dito sa Davos at matagal na paniniwala ko na magiging maganda ang dating ni Pangulong Marcos dito sa Davos ,” she said in a videotaped interview that was posted by RTVM on Thursday, Jan. 19. “He is western educated at intelehente siya at articulate siya . To put it in english, he speaks their language,” Arroyo explained.

The former president, who once also attended the WEF, said Marcos knows the importance of the forum in the country’s progress.“Alam ng Pangulo na sa pag-uunlad ng ating bansa napakaimportante ang pagsasama ng gobyerno at pribadong sektor ,” she added.The President left Manila last Sunday to attend the WEF in Davos, Switzerland, where he is expected to present the Philippines’ economic performance and his administration’s priorities.

Malacañang earlier said that the President will take the opportunity to highlight the Philippines’ readiness to tackle issues, such as food and energy security, digitalization, and climate action.
