PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. paid his last respects to Migrant Workers secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople, who died on Tuesday afternoon.
Marcos visited the wake of Ople at The Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City Wednesday.The President and his wife, first lady Maria Louise 'Liza' Araneta-Marcos, arrived at the memorial park at around 7: 30 p.m.In a chance interview on Tuesday in Laguna, Marcos said Ople's passing was 'a great loss for all of us.''It is a great loss for all of us. It is a great loss for all of us over my friend.
'It's very, very sad news. I have lost a friend, the Philippines has lost a friend. Secretary Toots was a special person. With the deep compassion really for the people she had to care for, namely the migrant workers, and she was very very—she's a big loss,' he added.Ople, 61, died 'surrounded by her family and loved ones,' according to the Department of Migrant Workers .The agency did not mention the cause of death, but Ople had been battling breast cancer.
