Marcos Swiss accounts 'non-issue' in Switzerland trip -- DFA
THE Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday said that the controversial Swiss bank accounts of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. are 'non-issue' during his upcoming trip to Switzerland next week.Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Carlos Sorreta issued the statement as he allayed concerns that the President's visit to Switzerland would revive the issue on his Swiss accounts.
There is a legal framework for cooperation on financial matters, and none of it has been triggered,' he added. The Sandiganbayan records showed that President Marcos and his sisters, Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa 'Imee' Marcos and Irene Romualdez Marcos-Araneta, were beneficiaries of the Swiss foundations, which the anti-graft court said were illegally created and maintained.
