If there’s one President Duterte initiative that should be continued immediately by President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., it’s the “libreng sakay” or free ride program, Camarines Sur 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte said.
“I hope that the new administration of BBM would be able to find ways of continuing to fund the libreng sakay program even at least until the end of the year,” Villafuerte, a former deputy speaker, said in a statement Tuesday, June 28.
The free ride program of public utility vehicles and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 is scheduled to end simultaneously with President Duterte’s last day in office on June 30. On that day, he will be replaced by President-elect Marcos. A total of 118 routes offering free rides earlier ended last June 16. The program covers selected areas in Metro Manila and 14 other regions in the country.
