CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Pittsburgh’s Will Loevner won the 2023 Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, with a finishing time of 2 hours, 19 minutes, 56 seconds. After Lakewood’s Jeremiah Fitzgerald won marathon in 2021 and 2022, Loevner became the first non-Ohioan to win the marathon since 2019.Will Loevner, of Pittsburgh, crosses the finish line. But by the time he was crowded by media with his medal, Loevner had a big smile on his face. Impressively, this was Loevner’s first attempt at a marathon. He has been mountain biker for the last few years and also took part in endurance biking. “I actually was into alternate endurance-biking, like 24-hour racing, so the marathon’s a lot shorter than what I was used to,” Loevener said. “In the 24-hour races you’re doing well over 200 miles, so it’s a little different doing 26 today.”“I love this course, I was super impressed by Cleveland.
