Leasing agents are scouting for a new restaurant to take its place.

Manny's is a Tex-Mex restaurant with four locations still open in Dallas-Fort Worth and one coming soon. The original, which opened in Uptown Dallas in 2005, is closed permanently.The original Manny’s Uptown Tex-Mex Restaurante in Uptown Dallas is closed for good, confirms catering manager Robert Sharp.

Despite the singed restaurant space — and the weight of the coronavirus pandemic that landed soon after the fire — Manny’s operators had said over the past two years that they planned to reopen. No longer: A “for lease” sign on the property confirms that the family that owns the little yellow house is looking for a new restaurant to open there.

It isn’t known yet whether the house will remain intact or if a new restaurant will be built from scratch on the site; that depends on who signs a lease, Gosnell says. The site is on the back side of the coming-soon Central Market on McKinney Avenue,Manny’s will surely be missed by Uptown dwellers and downtown Dallas commuters. Creator Manny Rios, who is related to those who started Mia’s and Mi Cocina, started Manny’s right there in Uptown.
