Nicholas G. Mucci, 28, of Toms River, yelled 'white lives matter' and threw smoke bombs at people from leaving the concert at Trinity Church in Asbury Park, authorities said.
as he shouted “white lives matter, too,” authorities announced on Monday.
Mucci was wearing a black face covering at around 9 p.m. Jan. 27 when he blocked people from leaving the concert at Trinity Church on Asbury Avenue and threw two smoke bombs at the crowd from an SUV, authorities said. The concert was organized by the “One People’s Project,” an anti-racism social justice organization.
Mucci returned about an hour later, drove into the church parking lot and attempted to pepper spray concert attendees who were still gathered outside while again shouting “white lives matter,” authorities said. He fled in the SUV, authorities said. Investigators determined Mucci’s cell phone had “gone dark” during the church attack, authorities said.
