A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an attempted home invasion in Auburn last month.
A photo from security video provided by the Auburn Police Department shows three armed men attempting to break into a home on the 31000 block of 117 Place Southeast on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Auburn police said the homeowner was armed and “quickly started firing shots at the intruders through the door.” , the man was arrested around 8 p.m. Wednesday on first-degree robbery and first-degree assault charges.
The APD said the man “has a long history of violent crimes and is believed to be an active member of a group of criminals that targets Asian families for home invasion robberies.” The department said the man had a stolen pistol with anhappened around 2 a.m. on Oct, 19 at a home on the 31000 block of 117th Place Southeast in Auburn. The attempted home invasion and burglary was captured on security video and shared by the APD.
Two of the men continued to try and kick in the door before the third suspect was able to kick the door open. The APD said the homeowner was armed and “quickly started firing shots at the intruders through the door.”at their home as they were trying to escape and knocked down some of the fencing as they got away.
One of the men can be seen in the video wearing a gray sweatshirt or jacket, gray sweatpants and what appear to be blue or black shoes. The third suspect can be seen in the video wearing brown pants and a black sweatshirt or jacket. The APD said the two men described above are still at large, adding that the investigation into the robbery attempt is ongoing.
