1 person hurt after being shot by Indiana State Police trooper
Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana allows Indianapolis residents to share anonymous tips with law enforcement.One man was shot by an Indiana State Police trooper Monday morning who were tracking him as part of a gun and drug investigation.McFarland Boulevard near Southport RoadThe man was taken to the hospital in stable condition and no officers were injured, said Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine.
Three troopers were following up on an investigation involving a person with several warrants for gun and drug felony charges before the shooting. They encountered the suspect in a public area of a hotel, Perrine said. The man fled from troopers on foot then got into a vehicle and drove away. Troopers pursued the man then he crashed into a nearby pond, got out of his vehicle and again fled on foot, according to ISP.
One trooper and the man exchanged gunfire as he fled after crashing his vehicle, Perrine said.
