Behind Sheryl Ann Siddall’s home, investigators said they found evidence that something was dragged into Horseshoe Lake, which borders her backyard.
LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — A man who was already in custody is now facing a capital murder charge in connection with the disappearance of a Liberty County woman.. Siddall has been missing from her home in Horseshoe Lake Estates since Sept. 18.Siddell was first reported missing by her niece. When deputies did a welfare check at her home, they said Hassler was there. They also said they found blood on the kitchen floor and cabinets.
Hassler told investigators that Siddall told him that she was leaving to visit her sister in Oklahoma. However, all of her personal belongings - including her vehicle and purse - were still on the property. Her family said Siddall does not have a sister in Oklahoma, but her daughter does live there. Siddall's family said they didn't know Hassler, but he told deputies he was in the process of buying Siddall's home.
LCSO said Hassler was taken into custody on a charge of felon in possession of firearms. Investigators said Hassler has not been forthcoming with any information on Siddall’s disappearance. According to a release from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, he’ll soon go before a magistrate on the new charge.
