Man killed in City Heights shooting identified as San Diego resident [Breaking]
A 35-year-old man fatally shot following a brief verbal confrontation Sunday night in the Chollas Creek area of City Heights was identified as a San Diego resident.
Marcelo Barajas was gunned down around 7:25 p.m. on Altadena Avenue near Wightman Street, police Lt. Steve Shebloski said in a news release Tuesday. Barajas suffered at least one gunshot wound to his back. When officers arrived, they found him lying on the ground. He was taken to a hospital, where he died about 45 minutes later, police said.Shebloski said detectives learned the victim may have had a brief argument with at least one person just before the shooting.A detailed description of the shooter was not provided. He may have fled the area in a dark colored vehicle.
