A jury returned a guilty verdict Monday for a man accused of assaulting and robbing a 62-year-old man in 2020, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
Walter A. Williams, 30, of Paterson, was found guilty of second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree theft after a six day trial, officials said. Williams attacked Luis Rey, 62, on Broadway in Paterson on the night of November 15, 2020, prosecutors said. Williams slammed the victim into a concrete sidewalk, causing a broken collarbone, multiple broken ribs and a head laceration, before stealing from him, authorities.Williams will be held in Passaic County Jail until sentencing.
