Jordy Estrada was booked in the Dallas County jail Sunday afternoon on charges of murder in connection with the slaying of Octavio Velasquez.Dallas police said they were called about 7:50 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of South Vernon Avenue, near West Illinois Avenue, where they found Velasquez in the parking lot with a gunshot wound on the back of his head.
As police were leaving the apartment, a detective found a backpack filled with money and paperwork belonging to Estrada. When detectives walked back to ask him about it, they found him in the courtyard crouched behind a grill gathering money, according to the affidavit.
